The Landscape

Using 19th century romantic landscapes as source imagery, these pieces translate the materiality and fundamentally edit the picture plane. The raw canvas becomes a source light, switching between foreground and background. The drawings exist simultaneously behind a window, and inside the canvas itself. Transmuting the paint into graphite precise drawings, the pieces are more responsive the controlling angles the canvas dictates.
